China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around
I was really looking forward to this polish. Looking forward to buying it, looking forward to wearing it... And then... take a look at the pics...
This is Dandy Lyin' Around, one of the polishes from China Glaze's Avant Garden collection. Out of all 12 polishes, I was most excited for this one and really couldn't wait to wear it. And now...
I kinda can't wait to take it off!
I don't really know what happened. I can't help but wonder if I didn't shake up the bottle enough or I was just too tired and shouldn't have been painting my nails. Maybe not long enough between coats? Ick. I really have to say, this polish was disappointing. The formula is just not that great, and I usually adore China Glaze polishes. I know that this can be a gorgeous polish. I've seen swatches that are gorgeous. That's part of the reason this was tops on my gotta-get-it-now list.
Boo.
I'll have to try this shade again and take a little more time during the application. Maybe it was all the shimmery awesomeness? I don't know.
Polishes Used:
1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around
1 Coat Seche Vite
You would think that 3 coats would be enough for opacity, and honestly, I thought it would be enough too. However, as evidenced in the above photos, Dandy Lyin' Around has a streaking problem.
Eh.
The pics I saw that made me want this polish made it look all shimmery and gooey... Like a melted shimmery white marshmallowish crelly polish. It doesn't look like that on my nails at all. It's lacking the softness I saw in a lot of other swatches, and that was my biggest reason for wanting to purchase it. I thought it would be like a white version of Vanity Fairest by essie... one of my favorite polishes. (Seriously, I could wear that for weeks!)
The shimmer lends a nice touch to the polish, but overall, it's just not the look I was going for. There's a harshness here that I can't quite put my finger on. This polish may be relegated to the frankening drawer. Duh, duh, duh.
Have you ever picked up a polish that left you disappointed?
