5 Things: Peanut Edition (May 2013)

Shelly, Sammy, and Ray... <3 these Turtles Coming to DVD in July!!! 1. TURTLES!!! But specifically, Sammy, Shelly, and Ray, the stars of A Turtle's Tale. Peanut LOVES this movie, and we watch it 5 or 6 times a weekend. Sometimes, I put it on for light noise. It's got a great soundtrack, and she loves all the different colors of the underwater scenes. I guess the adorably big-eyed turtles are probably a draw too. They are ah-dorable! Training Sippy Cup 2. This works exactly like a bottle, but lets Peanut feel like a big kid holding her very own cup. She totally understands the concept and does pretty well holding it and drinking out of it. Pete the Cat Pete & Peanut 3. Peanut LOVES Pete the Cat. I downloaded the 4 stories they have online , burned them to a CD, and it's such a help in the car when my lil' Peanutty-Buddy turns into Fussypants on the long ride to and from work. Thankfully, the commute will be getting shorter soon... bu

OPI Paint my Moji-Toes Red

Today's manicure is a simple one thanks to a cold I'm battling. (achoo!) It's my favorite shade of red, one of the first OPI polishes my sister bought me, and one of the few polish bottles in my collection that shows noticeable use! Paint my Moji-Toes Red... Natural Light Natural Light - Bottle Shot Natural Light Natural Light Paint my Moji-Toes* Red is from OPI's 2009 South Beach Collection, that year's spring/summer collection. It's very fitting, too. I definitely reach for this more in spring and summer than the other seasons. I've painted it on my hands and toes a LOT over the past 4 years. I've yet to add polish thinner to this bottle. Well, it's not an in-your-face red. It's a faded poppy red creme polish that goes really well wi

Layering: Zoya Tru

Some layerings practically paint themselves, and this one is an excellent example! Tru has a fine pink shimmer that was begging to be emphasized and turned into my first ever FLAKY gradient mani... So naturally, I paired it with Aisle Be There from Sally Hansen and Fingerpaints Flashy. Aisle Be There is an understated fine pink shimmer in a clear base. Flashy is your "typical" flaky... It flashes from red to orange to green. (Think Essie Shine of the Times and Sally Hansen Hidde

Layering: Provocative Pixie

Miss Pixie is part of the L'Oreal Miss Candy collection. Other than pulling this polish out for these swatches and this comparison , it's been sitting quietly in my helmer. I was in the mood for a blue jelly glitter sandwich, so here you go! Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 3 Coats L'Oreal Miss Pixie 1 Coat L.A. Girl Provocative 1 Coat Pure Ice Oh, Baby! 1 Coat L.A. Girl Provocative 2 Coats L'Oreal Miss Pixie 1 Coat OPI Top Coat 1 Coat Essie Good to Go In all honestly, I liked this manicure way better last night than I do today. I'm not sure if it's the rain that's been falling all day, or just the lack of glow to this polish. I'm just not loving it. I layered Miss Pixie over Provocative, thinking that it would change the color of the glitter, and it did change the fuchsia to a little more purplish fuchsia. The effect just wasn't as intense as I was going for. Oh, Baby added a little depth and definitel

Peanut: 7 Months (and 8 days...)

Peanut turned 7 months old last Monday... 7 months! What happened to the tiny little peanut I brought home in October? She's growing way too fast... Her 4th tooth is coming in... she rolls all over the place, and she's literally minutes from figuring out how to crawl. She's one active little girl, and it's getting more difficult to capture the cuteness. Take last week, for example. I had her in a really cute onesie. In my defense, it was an 80ish degree day, and it totally FELT like summer. The bow on the back is adorable, so I was trying to snap a picture of her being a little turtle, showing off the bow. That just wasn't happening. Hi, mommy! What do you mean, turn over? This book is yummy. Pretty Bow! One thing I've learned in the past 7 months and 8 days of parenting this little Peanut... It's totally her show. If she doesn't want to do it, she's not going to. She's got stubborn in her genes, but I love that about h
