OPI Pamplona Purple vs. Wet n Wild Through the Grapevine

I promised I would compare these two last week , so here they are... Natural Light - Shade Natural Light - Sunlight Bottle Shots Definitely NOT dupes. I guess I was thinking that Pamplona Purple was lighter than it actually is, but it's not. These two aren't really that close at all. Don't let the sunlight picture fool you! I couldn't believe the shades looked almost identical in the photo. (My camera has purple issues.) The good news is, both of these polishes are from core collections. So, if you want to buy both polishes, you totally can, because they're both still available. Which shade do you prefer?

Fangirl Friday: 9.27.13

Fall is officially here! The weather hasn't cooled down too much, so that's been nice. A girl could get used to this kind of weather all.year.round! 1. Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polishes c/o Nouveau Cheap This week, Gotham Polish and Nouveau Cheap are both challenging my willpower. And this time, it's not just the shades of polish I'm loving... it's also the incredibly beautiful bottles they come in. I'll be needing a set to paint with and another set to display. Seriously. Touche, Revlon. Touche. 2. Yep, this Nicholas K look featuring Zoya polish rocks, but can we talk about the rings in this show? Particularly, this one?!? I'm pretty sure it's a locket/poison ring, and that milky gray color? Love it! 3. Cadillacquer came out with a Dexter collection, and while I've never watched the show... check out this color!  c/o Fashion Polish Umm yeah. I NEED this color. Isn't it gorgeous? Fashion Polish swatched the entire collec

Layering: Gilded Fields

I almost hesitate to call this a layering, because I'm not really sure that any of what's layered inside actually shows through. Nonetheless... Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 1 Coat China Glaze Strawberry Fields 1 Coat SinfulColors Gilded 2 Coats China Glaze Strawberry Fields 1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite I've been on this bright polish kick, and was thinking pink, so... naturally, that meant the hottest pink in my stash. Strawberry Fields is part of the core China Glaze collection. It's glowing hot pink with a pretty gold shimmer mixed in. Definitely a must-have in your collection. SinfulColors Gilded is really pretty. It's got fine gold and red glitter in a clear base. And in this layering, it got completely lost. Seriously. Strawberry Fields ATE it. Had I used more than 1 coat of Gilded, the results might've been different, but I didn't, so they weren't. Hrmph. So this mani didn't turn

SinfulColors Glitz & Glittered

This display popped up at my local Rite-Aid the other day. I've been looking forward to a lot of Fall and Winter collections, so it was nice to finally see one in person! Ice Dream, Silver Belle, Charmed, Unwrap Me, Decadent, Holiday Rebel, Gilded, Full Spectrum Glitz & Glittered is SinfulColors Holiday 2013 Collection. Not sure if it will be the only one, but it's a decent collection. And that's coming from someone who has a TON of glitter polishes. Check out the shades I picked up... SinfulColors Charmed SinfulColors Decadent SinfulColors Gilded SinfulColors Holiday Rebel Shade: Holiday Rebel, Gilded, Decadent, Charmed Sunlight: Holiday Rebel, Gilded, Decadent, Charmed Super sparkly, n'est ce pas? J'adore! This collection honestly has me ready for eggnog, trimming the tree, wrapping presents... all of it! Charmed is a sparkly micro-glitter that's mostly silver. You can see very subtle flecks of color here and there,

Wet n Wild Through the Grapevine

Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 2 Coats Wet n Wild Through the Grapevine 1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Okay... so now that I'm looking at this polish, I'm honestly wondering if it's a dupe for OPI's Pamplona Purple. I'll have to double check, but I'm thinking if not dupes, they're very close. Budding Romance was starting to look a bit worn, but I still wanted a bright color on my nails. I know it's officially Fall and that's a bit backwards, but hakuna matata, right? Anyway. Through the Grapevine is a mid-toned berry purple from Wet n Wild's core collection of megalast polish. You can find it at pretty much any drugstore... CVS, Rite-Aid, and Dollar General are just a few that come to mind. I'm pretty sure I picked mine up at CVS, because the bulk of my drugstore polish hails from there. So, I'm loving the purple and everything, but I think it needs something. Stripes, dots, glit

China Glaze Budding Romance

This is one of those love it or hate it colors... and I love.Love.LOVE it! <3 Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 3 Coats China Glaze Budding Romance 1 Coat Borghese Clear 1 Coat Seche Vite Budding Romance is officially my new favorite green polish. I mean... just look at it! I have a soft spot in my heart for this yellowish pea-green color that some people call olive, while others equate it to what you might find in a soiled diaper. Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to... This green is really vibrant. It makes me think of fresh cut grass and squishy moss. The jelly finish gives it a glowiness... Like when you hold a leaf up to the sky, and the rays of the sun illuminate it. That's the feeling this polish gives me. It's different... fresh... invigorating, even. I have a thin flyaway sweater in this EXACT color. I tried it on because I felt bad for it. (Seriously!) Every now and then while I'm shopping, I pick up something completely different an

Fangirl Friday: 9.20.13

c/o Yammie's Noshery 1. Thanks to Mr. Sparkle, I have a special place in my heart (and stomach) for pizza rolls. Lazy Sundays, movies, snuggles, and pizza rolls. Yep. I'm superhard to please, y'all. Anyhoo... I stumbled on THIS recipe, and I cannot WAIT to try and make these little suckers . Yammie's Noshery is officially the first food blog on my bloglovin' feed. Check it out... clever writing AND great recipes... Book . Mark . All . The . Things . :) 2. Sweaters with Elbow Patches... c/o Say Yes to Hoboken , A Pair and a Spare DIY , Superficial Girls , * I've wanted to make one of these for a while now, and there are TONS of tutorials on Pinterest and other DIY sites. I'm still not sure of what shape I like best, but this is definitely on my level of craftiness and BONUS! You don't need a sewing machine, which is good, because I don't have one! 3. A LOT of Fall/Winter/Spring Polish Collections have been announced, and I just kee

Layering: Berry Flashy Night

Purple Jelly + Glitter + Flakies = 3rd official attempt at recreating Cult Nails Unicorn Puke... Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 2 Coats L'Oreal Berry Nice 2 Coats Fingerpaints Flashy 2 Coats OPI Last Friday Night 2 Coats Fingerpaints Flashy 2 Coats L'Oreal Berry Nice 1 Coat Seche Vite This is a complete and total glitterbomb of a layering with some flakies thrown in for good measure. And.I.Like.It. Berry Nice is the purple jelly from L'Oreal's Miss Candy Collection . Fingerpaints Flashy is your "traditional" flaky polish that flashes from red, to orange, to yellow, to green. I used 2 layers of Last Friday Night in the middle for subtle sparkle, then added another 2 coats of Flashy to the party. With 2 coats of Berry Nice on top of all that , the glitter in Last Friday Night turned teal, blue, and violet, and the flakes in Flashy turned reddish-pink. Preeeeeetty! This layering might have more in common with Fowl Pla

Fangirl Friday: 9.13.13

Woohoo! It's Friday and the weather is GORGEOUS! CoverGirl Catching Fire Capitol Collection Glosstinis c/o Nouveau Cheap: Sulfur Blaze, Rouge Red, Pyro Pink, and Seared Bronze. 1. G at Nouveau Cheap ALWAYS has the scoop on the latest... So, it's no surprise that she has posted pics of the first and second CoverGirl Hunger Games Catching Fire Capitol Collection Displays. If you've been waiting with bated breath for this collection, head over there toutdesuite to check it out! Even better? Swatches are on the way! (Yes, I'll be stalking her blog allweekendlong.) 2. Forget the Galaxy Note II or III or whatever... I'm back to being an Apple Fangirl again! 16 GB iPhone 5s or 32 GB iPhone 5c? So here's the thing... I really liked my Galaxy Note when I first got it. Honestly, I did. But then I upgraded from Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean, and my Note was noticeably slower. And then its battery up and decided it would decide when it would char

5 Things: September 2013

So, we're saying goodbye to summer and all of that, and I feel like I'm crashing into Fall. It's like I've got a parachute, but I'm just floating all over the place. A little bit here, a little bit there. Sheesh. Can I get a direction already? I'm not particularly liking the way this current time-frame is feeling... so, I thought I'd be a little bit constructive with this month's 5 Things. My creativity has blustered off on a completely different path with its own parachute, so... yeah. I was going somewhere with that. I promise. Anyhoo. This blog was originally started to help me find me again, and there are some days I still find myself lost altogether. I'm not going to lie. Some days it's manageable, other days, I just want to crawl under the covers on my bed and hide. BUT. I have a little Peanut that depends on me, and Mr. Sparkle wouldn't take too kindly to that. He didn't sign up for ostrich duty. SO... we carry on. Bec

Follow Me Friday 9.6.13

Okay... so I'm finding a real lack of creativity at the moment. What's with that? Is it because we're in between two seasons? Is my soul already mourning the loss of warm, summer weather and flip-flops on my feet? The weather has been getting cooler, but I'm kinda ready to wear my boots. I dunno. So, rather than bore you with a forced and contrived post... Why don't you click around and see what I've been up to on the interwebs lately. 'Cause you know... shameless plugplugplugs and all! :) bloglovin' Facebook Instagram Pinterest tumblr we <3 it Happy Friday... and have a great weekend! -S
