Seize the Sparkle

I've been in JellyLand for the past couple days, so I thought I'd switch it up a little bit... Artificial Light Gummy Green Bottle Shot Artificial Light Hard Candy Gummy Green Gummy Green is one of the brand-new Hard Candy polishes that came out this spring. It's part of the Candy Sprinkles collection... 9 different polishes with a finish that's supposed to (and does) look like sprinkles on icing. (Essentially a cupcake manicure all in one bottle.) Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 4 Coats Hard Candy Gummy Green 1 Coat OPI Top Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite I have to admit, I like that this manicure all came from one bottle. Layering manicures aren't for everyone, and this line of polishes give you a look that says complicated without all the effort! That being said, application was NOT flawless. An early Mother's Day present

WOW, am I conflicted. On one hand... I LOVE how this layering turned out. I love the pictures I took. I love that the glitter inside of this jelly sandwich turned the colors I thought it would. Now if only I liked orange... (This one's for all you orange lovers out there!) Macro I really do like this layering... and that's saying a lot, considering my disdain for all things orange near my olive-toned skin. Seriously though, I had a vision in mind when I started this layering, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Jelly polishes can be fickle... sometimes they layer how you want them to, and other times they do strange things to the glitters they're layered with. In this case, Mango Mamma from L'Oreal played nicely with the glitter polishes I picked! Two pretty blues = TONS of epic layering combinations. Yes... Epic... Trust me! It's been a while since I picked up Revlon Royal for a manicure, and sadly, it has suffered the same fate of so many other kindred bottles of this polish. A bunch of pigment settled to the bottom of the bottle and won't budge, no matter how hard I shake. This hasn't affected the color of the polish. The formula, however, is another story. Revlon Royal used to be a dream to apply. It's got a great brush, it builds nicely, but somewhere between purchase and comparison, it turned into a streaky mess of a polish. I'm not sure if adding thinner would help or hurt this polish. I wouldn't want to even try it at this point, because Royal has since been discontinued. The good news in all of this, is that Miss Pixie from L'Oreal is an almost dead-on dupe for Revlon Royal with an impeccably streak-free finish. Here's a layering I did using L'Oreal Bubble Trouble... (from the Miss Candy collection) or as I like to call it... Malibu Stacy: The Pastel Edition*. And I LOVE IT!!! Bubble Trouble is part of the Miss Candy Collection from L'Oreal ... a pretty pink pastel jelly polish. Peanut's Current Faves: Klaus the Crinklebug 1. THIS toy. You pull on it and the bug vibrates down to land on the flower. The wings and the flower petals are crinkly. Top side of the petals are colorful with different patterns as shown in the pic, the undersides have different patterns in black and white. Add the rings at the bottom, random ribbons, antennae (always the antennae) , and the fuzzy texture. They're so much going on here that even Peanut can. not. deal. These 2 orange jellies are definitely not the same... Good news if you love orange polish! (I don't.*) Looking at these swatches... It's evident I should've also taken bottle shots of these two! When you compare them that way, they look like they'd be identical. Y'All Come Back, Ya Hear? is from the OPI Texas Sorbet Collection. I'm not a lover of orange, but it was 50% off, and for OPI, that's a steal! Y'All Come Back, Ya Hear? is a cool shade of orange... pumpkin-y orange to be precise. L'Oreal Mango Mamma is just what its name implies. A Mango-licious Tangerine-ish warm orange that I actually kind of like. I'm not too sure that it would look right with my skin tone, but I love the depth and saturation of Mango Mamma! It would create a beautiful Jelly Glitter Sandwich! I get excited when new polish collections come out, especially limited edition collections like the L'Oreal Miss Candy Jelly Polish Collection. I research my polishes pretty well before buying. Surprisingly, even though I have 200ish polishes... I have a pretty good idea of what colors I have and don't have. But sometimes I'll see a display that I think is new, and I get the color home only to discover I already have the exact. same. shade. Finally, a true cherry-red jelly polish for my collection! Natural Light Natural Light Sunlight Natural Light Sunlight Natural Light Sunlight Natural Light Macro Jelly Glitter Macro Jolly Lolly from L'Oreal is a bright cherry-red jelly polish that I actually don't mind. The finish on this shade is just incredible. It builds nicely from a super sheer pink to a pretty pastel pink jelly. Bubble Trouble looks to be one of those pinks that will work with any skin tone! L'Oreal Jolly Lolly: 1-4 Coats Jolly Lolly by L'Oreal is an interesting polish. On my wheels, it looked pink. On my nails, it looks red.
