Fishbowl Friday *003*
Apologies are due... I totally planned on doing a post to announce this week's prompt and time has just really gotten away from me! Then, yesterday, Peanut had her 2 year checkup and was just in the squirreliest mood all day!!! Thankfully, I was able to rally last night to get my nails done for today's Fishbowl Friday...
I picked my prompt on Tuesday, and initially had a completely different brainstorm in mind for my nails. I was originally going to paint them a very pale pink creme and add black french tips. For some reason, light pink and black always come to mind when I think vintage.
But then on Wednesday night, I painted a really cool gradient on my nails and it reminded me of my introduction to nails blogs, nail art, and layerings! Swatchaholic was one of the first blogs I found back in the day, and I've been following/drooling ever since! Jeanette from Swatchaholic has always done the most amazing layerings, and she really inspired me to try out new and different combinations. She's totally the Queen of Layerings. Just check out some of her manis here, here, and here. Seriously swoonworthy stuff!
So... I definitely channeled some inspiration from her and pulled out all my duochromes and glitters. The result was this gorgeous 5 polish duochrome glitter gradient on my nails that I absolutely love. So, without any further introductions, VINTAGE...
Polishes Used:
2 Coats Essie For The Twill Of It
China Glaze Choo Choo Choose You
Hard Candy Beetle
Hard Candy Mr. Wrong
Pure Ice Busted
Hard Candy Mr. Wrong
1 Coat Sinful Colors Clear Coat
1 Coat Essie Good To Go
I started out this layering with 2 coats of For The Twill Of It, which for some strange reason, I've never worn or swatched before. The remaining polishes were sponged on to create the gradient effect. Choo Choo Choose You was sponged three quarters of the way down my nails, Beetle made it halfway, and Mr. Wrong made it one quarter of the way. I sponged Busted down three quarters of the way, which ended up muting the glitter effect of Mr. Wrong and Beetle a little bit. So, I went back and sponged Mr. Wrong on just the very tips of my nails. Then, I topped it all off with clear and a coat of Essie Good To Go.
I'm seriously in love with this manicure. Really, I have zero desire to take it off. Pretty sure it will stay on for at least another day or 3! Happy, Happy Weekend!!!
