Call it what you want... Platinum Marshmallows? Today's NOTD was inspired by this post from Michelle at All Lacquered Up. Here's my take on the trend, and my second go-around with Dandy Lyin' Around.
Polishes Used:
1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
5 Coats China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around
3 Coats Sephora by OPI Flurry Up! (applied to tips)
1 Coat OPI Bubble Bath
1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat
2 Coats Seche Vite
So my last attempt at Dandy Lyin' Around didn't go so well. Now, I'm convinced I bought a bum bottle. The only thing left to try is polish thinner at this point. I would've tried it last night, but I was already 3 coats deep AND Peanut was fast asleep. No way was I going to squeak, squeak by her TWICE just for polish thinner.
Thankfully, by coat #5, I finally achieved almost (butstillnotquite) opacity. I dabbled Flurry Up! onto the top half of my nails for a glitter gradient, using about 3 coats to get the look in the pics above. I thought about letting Flurry Up! sparkle and shine in all its glory, but that lasted for about 2.5 seconds. I painted a coat of OPI Bubble Bath on top for a Crelly Glitter Sandwich. I painted a coat of Borghese Clear over Bubble Bath, then added 2 layers of Seche Vite. I wanted to make sure this layering turned out smooth, and that 2nd layer really did the trick.
I really like this look, but I'm not sure I'd use Dandy Lyin' Around again to achieve it. Essie Marshmallow settles much better on the nail, as I'm sure, do most other shimmery white polishes. This is a trendy look for summer right now, but it would also be great to wear over winter or around the Holidays. Maybe even New Year's Eve?
How would you rock this layering?
And, no. I don't have a coffee problem. Nawt.At.All.
