FingerPaints Winter Chill
It is absolutely freeeeeezing outside. It's not a good thing when the temperature outside is the same amount of fingers I have on ONE hand. BRRRrrr... And since it's sub-arctic* outside, why not paint my nails with a little Winter Chill?
Polishes Used:
2 Coats Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats FingerPaints Winter Chill
2 Coats Borghese Clear Coat
1 Coat Essie Good to Go
Winter Chill is an interesting polish. I forgot that it was textured when I bought it. It's not that I mind textured polishes... I'm just not the biggest fan. I prefer the shinies, and while my pictures might make it look like a blackened grape color, it is actually black in person. Kind of a smoky, black jelly, but black, nonetheless. Winter Chill also has little tiny bits of sparkle in red, fuchsia, orange, teal, and blue.
Application wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Whatever gives Winter Chill its texture builds up on the brush, so you start out with a thin little brush and end with a dastardly mop. Precision was difficult, but I think I did an okay job. Three coats were definitely necessary in order for this polish to be opaque.
I guess I probably should've taken a picture or two before I put the clear coat on, but there was really nothing picture-worthy going on. The black was lackluster, and the glitter didn't really pop. So, I fed it some top coat, and what you see is what I got. I think it could've used another 2 or 3 coats of clear, but things were getting pretty gloopy. My pinky smudged a bit while drying, and I'm surprised my thumb didn't, because I overdid it on that one and was almost REALLY Good to Go and start over again. Hrrrmph.
Overall, I'm just not sold on texture polishes. I really wanted to like this one, and I don't mind it on my nails at the moment, but it's just... Meh. I thoroughly appreciate and enjoy sparkles and shiny things, so texture polishes like this just tend to leave me disappointed. And in need of glitter. Like, STAT.
