Princesses Rule! is a major lemming of mine that has finally been vanquished. I picked this out for a French manicure way back in 2010, and I loved the color, but I definitely remember wishing I would've skipped out on the French manicure part and just layered on a couple coats of this gorgeous shimmery pink! Anyway... I put in an order for the polish while my nails were still drying, and got a call about a week later saying it wasn't available anymore. Boo!

Like I said, it's been on my wishlist for quite a while, and while shopping on Black Friday, I came across a few bottles at Sally Beauty Supply. I wasn't sure if it was just a fluke, but since returning to the scene of the crime, I did see that Princesses Rule! is part of the core OPI display at Sally Beauty. Which means after this bottle runs out, I can totally get another one! YAY!!!

In other random news, AND while I'm thinking of it, I spotted a few bottles of OPI at WalMart a couple of days ago.  Are they actually carrying OPI now?!? I was honestly wondering if it was a return or a mistake...

ANYWAY.

Yesterday, I hit up my local CVS for the first time since Christmas, and let me just say... G from Nouveau Cheap wasn't kidding when she said it's "Look Up Season." I almost missed a whole row of higher-than-my-head, tippy-top shelf displays. Specifically, the NYC Show Stopper display containing Top of the Gold, AND the new Wet N Wild Mega Rocks Glitter display... all bottles intact, and $1 off coupons on the Wet N Wild polishes.

SCORE!

So, I picked up Slap the Bass and Slick It To The Man from Wet N Wild, along with both bottles of Top of the Gold from the NYC display. (sorryimnotsorry)

Top of the Gold is a warm (slightly orange) yellowy-gold flaky topper with ah-mazing payoff. Just one coat gives you a perfect layer of pretty butterscotchy goodness that makes me want a butterbeer likenow. :)

Dear Universal, pleasePleasePLEASE bottle this. Love, S.

This layering seemed like a good idea when I started. In hindsight, though, I probably would've paired Top of the Gold with something else. But Princesses Rule was on my fingers and I was itching to try the new flaky topper. I like it, but I can't say I'd paint it again. I think I'll pair it with a darker, more opaque shade next time around.

What do you think of Golden Princess?
