Layering: Dream... Tex-Y?

First things first, these pics are not color accurate. I wish they were. That being said, it's still a super cool mani that you might want to try. These nails are not quietly whispering or talking amongst themselves. They're in your face and screaming... SCREAMING!

This is one of those manis that does all the talking. It's incredibly bright and in your face... it's better than wearing bright red nail polish, and I really didn't think that was possible! It goes there... Waving, not drowning? Bah! Try Screaming, not whispering. Screeeeeeeeaming Neon!

My camera just can't capture the awesomeness that is this manicure! I suspect it's because it's a neon, (strike one) and an odd shade of purple, (strike two). If you have a bottle of Dream On by Sinful Colors, you can tell just how off the coloration really is. My camera makes it look like a blue-toned hot pink, when in reality it is an incredible make your eyes hurt neon purple. Even the Purple People Eater would be a little afraid!

So I was re-organizing my Helmer when Dream On caught my eye. Instantly, I knew it would be the next polish on my fingers. I was drawn to it yesterday (I'm a nocturnal polisher) for the same reason I rescued it from the shelves of Walgreens. It has an electric quality that just sucks you in!

I think part of me didn't believe Dream On would be bottle-true on my nails, but it did NOT disappoint. Unfortunately, I didn't capture any of those pics, because I knew I would be layering over top of it. Just like other neons, it dried to a matte finish that was a little streaky, but it glossed up nicely when I added a couple coats of glitter polish. I finished off with OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-Y to turn the glitter pink. It muted the effects of Dream On a bit, adding a nice candy finish, making this a sort of radioactive jelly glitter sandwich. At least, that's what I'm calling it!!!

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Dream On
2 Coats SOPI Flurry Up!
2 Coats OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-Y?
1 Coat Seche Vite

9 coats of polish might seem like a lot, but I'm sure I've done manicures that have used at least 15 or 16 before... Did I mention that I rather enjoy doing things the hard way? Yep. Always up for a good challenge.

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the results I got from this layering. I needed something bold and outspoken, because some days, you just can't scream at the top of your lungs, no matter how much you might want to. Sometimes, it's better to realize that A) people will look at you funny if you do that, B) it's better to take the high road, C) you can let your nails do the talking, or D) all of the above...

What's your favorite in-your-face empowering polish?
