SpaRitual Osmium
SpaRitual is a completely new-to-me brand. It's been around since 2004, and I've been meaning to try it for a while. A friend sent me this bottle as a Mother's Day gift, so I've been playing around with it on my nails, trying to dream up the perfect layering combination.
So this was my first official nailmail... ever! While I've purchased many polishes and received them through the mail, Osmium was sent by the very sweet Joie... She's one of the few polish fanatics that I know in real life, incredibly fierce and fun to be around, and she can tear it UP on the dance floor! Thanks again, Joie!
So... SpaRitual? I think a new addiction may be brewing. First of all... in my pics, the non-accent nails were painted on Thursday night and they're still going strong. The accents were painted on Saturday night, after a long Spa night at Chez Sparkle that involved 2 masks, a hot bath and a good book, followed by a shower. If I wouldn't have been roasting, I might've sipped on some chamomile tea afterwards just to unwind a little more. It only seemed fitting to have a Spa night, and I've been trying to have one for a while.
SpaRitual is different from all the other polishes out there because it's not only "4 Free*," it's Vegan, and "the formulations are naturally colored and free of synthetic dyes." They care about the environment and they strive to use sustainable resources. I've said it before, you've got to love a company that cares about its carbon footprint!
Polishes Used:
1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SpaRitual Osmium
1 Coat Sinful Colors Nail Junkie
Bongo Gold** on tips
1 Coat Sinful Colors Nail Junkie
1 Coat sally girl Gold Glitter
1 Coat OPI Top Coat
1 Coat Essie Good to Go
SpaRitual has a rubberized plum bottle cap that makes for easy opening and super grip while applying. The brush is your standard small-sized round brush. No mops here! Application was great with almost total coverage at 2 coats. I still saw a few streaks, so I added a 3rd coat which evened everything out beautifully.
Osmium is a blackened green-leaning inky-teal with a jelly-ish finish. It's a seriously gorgeous polish... this is a color that's a must-have for any modern polish collection. I like blackened shades of any color, because they add a little extra edge to your outfit. And given my proclivity for layering polishes... blackened shades make gradient manicures much more simple!
You might be a bit skeptical of the "vegan" claims from SpaRitual, but there's no reason to be. This polish wore really well, considering the pics above are documenting day 4 with only minimal tip wear. That's pretty impressive. Normally, nail polish doesn't last too long on my nails. Not because I don't like it, but I really do try and change it frequently. Since I'm a night-time polisher, it helps me plan what I'll be wearing the following day. Admittedly, I purposely kept this on longer than normal, just to see how it would wear. It's pretty resilient, and you know what else? It doesn't smell too bad. I'm not sure how they managed it, but the smell of this polish was barely existent. If you're sensitive to the smell of nail polish, this might be a nose-savor!
So, yeah... I'm definitely going to have to pick up some more SpaRitual polishes. At $10 a pop, they're a little pricier than most polishes, but I think the trade-off is worth it. Vegan, Eco-Friendly, and Sustainable? That's a triple-threat that should see them well into the future!
What do you think of SpaRitual polishes?
*4 Free: Free of Dibutyl Phthalate, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Toluene.
**Can't remember the name of this for the life of me!
