During my weekly visit to CVS, I found the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Color Vibrations Glitter Mania LE Spring 2014 Collection freshly displayed on the Nail Bar. (I'm pretty sure it's the longest name for a collection I've ever seen. Just sayin'...) I immediately fell for Indi-Glow... it's a blue jelly cousin to Purple Pizazz (also from Sally Hansen), one of my favorite jelly sparklers. It's a blurple indigo jelly polish packed with iridescent glitter that flashes orange, yellow, green, and blue. It's a really pretty combo of colors. Very night sky-esque.

But then there's the formula...

Purple Pizazz can be tricky for me to work with, but Indi-Glow? It's like a mutant little cousin that somehow got landed with the thickest base ever. EVER. Seriously. My first attempt at this layering was really thick and smudged on the way out of the bathroom. So, I took it off and started all over again. Using incredibly thin coats, I got the look you see above, but it was kind of a pain. And I have some sparse patches on the sides of my nails.

Despite the problematic base, glitter payoff is good, and Indi-Glow played nicely with The Golden Age. Just one coat of glitter followed by 2 more thin coats of Indi-Glow, and I had a deep blue sparkly jelly glitter sandwich. Colorwise... I really, really like this layering, but thanks to the formula, Indi-Glow and I are frenemies. At least until I add a couple drops of thinner and see if that makes me like it better. :)

Fishbowl Friday 072 // Hard Candy

We're going to skip that whole part where we talk about how it's been a while, because well, it's been a really long while. I'm still trying to work out how to make room for blogging and juggle everything else, and it's definitely been a challenge. But know that I am working on it, and I do really, really miss it. This place has been my Quantum of Solace for a long time, and I'm not planning on letting it go anytime soon. That being said... for this week's prompt, I was happily surprised when I pulled HARD CANDY . This is probably one of the most iconic brands of nail polish, and it's certainly gone through it's own number of changes throughout the years. Who didn't want to own a bottle of Sky once they saw it on Alicia Silverstone's nails way back in the 90's? Last year, Hard Candy celebrated their 20th anniversary by bringing back some of their most iconic shades. The collection was a mix of five original shades and three new ones.
