Layering: Pop Kiss

Hard Candy recently came out with a bunch of new polishes for Spring. I've gotta say, there are some really unique and interesting color combos in the glitter polishes I saw. King of Pop was a definite must-have as soon as I laid eyes on it... O.o

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats Pure Ice Kiss Me Here
2 Coats Hard Candy King of Pop
1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

So... King of Pop is a really cool glitter polish. There's a lot going on... extra-large hex glitter in white and peach, large hex glitter in white and pale pink, medium hex glitter in white and light blue, small hex glitter in white and mint green, and extra-small hex glitter in white and light blue. These are colors that I wouldn't really think to pair together. They're random, but at the same time, they work well together.

The gray base I used is Pure Ice Kiss Me Here... one of my favorite polishes! It's a mid-tone gray that lets King of Pop really stand out. I probably could've gotten away with just 2 coats, but it was late, I was tired, and my eyes could NOT be trusted.

I've gotta admit, I wasn't sure how great the formula on King of Pop would be. Glitters like this can look soooo tempting in the bottle, only to be a complete mess when you try to use them. Definitely NOT the case with King of Pop. Application was actually great! For the most part, my nails each took 1 coat of King of Pop, followed by a second dabby coat to fill in some bare spots on the sides and make sure each nail had at least one piece of extra-large glitter. Surprisingly, I didn't really have to fish around for the bigger pieces, either. I just had to finagle them off the brush a bit. Yay for that, right?

This polish was purchased for me by my mother, (Grandmere Sparkle) at Wally World just this past weekend. We also picked up Cherry Pop, which I now can't wait to try! It's a pink, red, and white shredded satin glitter that reminds me of those old soda bottle labels. You know, from the glass bottles? I'm curious to see if Cherry Pop's formula is just as good as King of Pop. If so, I just might pick up more glitter polishes from Hard Candy. :)

    I just got this today and I love what you chose to layer this over. Your pics are outstanding! I agree with your on the new shades. I loved the candy nails but the newer ones are really cool. I also got Cherry Pop too and Pop Star.

Fishbowl Friday 072 // Hard Candy

We're going to skip that whole part where we talk about how it's been a while, because well, it's been a really long while. I'm still trying to work out how to make room for blogging and juggle everything else, and it's definitely been a challenge. But know that I am working on it, and I do really, really miss it. This place has been my Quantum of Solace for a long time, and I'm not planning on letting it go anytime soon. That being said... for this week's prompt, I was happily surprised when I pulled HARD CANDY . This is probably one of the most iconic brands of nail polish, and it's certainly gone through it's own number of changes throughout the years. Who didn't want to own a bottle of Sky once they saw it on Alicia Silverstone's nails way back in the 90's? Last year, Hard Candy celebrated their 20th anniversary by bringing back some of their most iconic shades. The collection was a mix of five original shades and three new ones.
