31 Day Challenge 2014: *15*
The last prompt I completed in the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge was Day 14... Flowers. That moves me right along to Day 15... (which I'm posting on Day 16) DELICATE PRINT...
Polishes Used:
1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
2 Coats Wet n Wild Distressed To Impress
1 Coat Bongo Diva 'Til Dawn (w/ nail brush)
1 Coat Spoiled Champagne Siren (w/ nail brush)
1 Coat Sinful Colors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite
1 Coat Wet n Wild Distressed To Impress (w/ nail brush)
1 Coat Bongo Diva 'Til Dawn (w/ nail brush)

1 Coat Sinful Colors Clear
1 Coat Seche Vite
I know, I know... sooooooo many coats! I thought I was done with this mani after the first coat of Seche. Thing is, there was so much more gold on the nail than I really wanted. I had to go back and balance it out a little better.
My first thought when I was brainstorming for this prompt was a waterfall manicure a la Nailasaurus. I had the idea of multi-colored waterfalls on a nudish nail, but then I realized something. Not exactly delicate. So... I changed my plan to do a waterfall in Bongo Diva 'Til Dawn on a navy blue base. That wasn't really delicate either, so I thought, maybe Bonita Dying To Party, but light gray seemed too contrasting for the base as well. Enter Wet n Wild Distressed To Impress... and my "delicate print" manicure was born.
I mentioned in another post that I owned a Sephora dotting tool. This time around, I used the nail brush that came in that very same set. Once I had the base coat down, I used my nail brush to paint thin gold stripes from the base of my nail 3/4 of the way toward the tip. After I realized I needed more of Distressed To Impress, I did the exact same thing in the reverse. I started about 1/4 of the way from my nail bed, painting thin stripes of taupe to the tips of my nails.
When it comes down to it, I think I would need a smaller paint brush to properly recreate the waterfall look. Either that, or I'd really have to control how much paint I put on the brush! Still, I'm honestly in love with how this turned out! I'm also a little sad that I have to take this off tonight. But GEOMETRIC nails are next, and I've just got to give that another whirl!!!
