There's a reason why they say "the 3rd time's a charm," and in the case of my geometric mani, it's the total truth! The first attempt put triangles over this mani. The non-structure of the delicate print and the structured black triangle over top just looked strange. In hindsight, I probably should've chosen a more subdued shade. Alas, I did not, so off it came.

Then I painted on a base of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, thinking that navy blue triangles would be better. I was feeling so confident in my nail art skills, that I decided I could suddenly freehand the triangles. I could nawt. But I didn't stop there! Instead, I got the even better idea to use hot pink dots to cover up my messy lines. When that turned out horribly, I figured I'd just turn those dots into clean pink lines, again, using my incredible freehand skills. Well, that just turned into a giant mess. So, that came off too.

It was soooooo late, and rather than staying up through another failed attempt, I called it quits. I simply painted Pacific Blue on my nails and decided I would try again another day. Last night became "another day" and I'm soooo glad I waited. I made sure to do some research and find a method that would work with the design I envisioned. Once again... striping tape came to the rescue!

Colorwise... I was still set on using Milani Ink Spot, mainly because I've yet to use it and feature it on the blog. I spotted Set The Mood, another untried recent acquisition on my nail desk and added it to the mix. I figured I needed to lighten the whole thing up with either another bright color or a pastel, and Rainbow Honey 488nm fit the bill. My geometric mani turned into a monochromatic manicure of blue goodness.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of doing this initially. I guess I was trying to make the challenge harder than it really had to be. For whatever reason, on that first night, striping tape just seemed so basic. But looking at my nails now... well, I'm having a little bit of a "Duh!" moment!!!

The next prompt is one I've been waiting for... GLITTER! Considering I'm all about le things that sparkle...
Bring it on! I'm ready!!!
