31 Day Challenge 2014: *09*
Ugh. Can we go back to metallic? I liked those nails a whooooole lot better than these. I don't want to call these RAINBOW nails a failicure, but I wouldn't really call them a raging success either!
Polishes Used:
1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Pistache (l. pinky, r. ring)
3 Coats Wet n Wild Ferris-Wheel Romance (l. ring, r. pointer)
3 Coats Wet n Wild A Venice Day (l. middle, r. thumb)
3 Coats SinfulShine Spitfire (l. pointer, r. middle)
3 Coats Bonita Miss Piggy (l. thumb, r. pinky)
2 Coats Spoiled I Have No Reception
2 Coats SOPI The Golden Age
1 Coat Seche Vite
Looking at my nails while I'm typing, I really don't mind them. In the photos, they definitely look rough. This definitely was not what I had originally planned for this prompt. I had visions of two-color gradients on each of my nails. BUT... By the time I got to painting my nails last night, that just wasn't happening. I tried it, didn't like it, and only made it worse trying to fix it.
No problem. I'll just take it alllll off and start over. Only, I wasn't in the best of moods, I didn't really feel like painting my nails, I wasn't happy to be re-painting my nails, and rainbows and sunshine were the last things on my mind. But a challenge is a challenge, so I switched to a skittle mani using the same colors. I added in the glitter gradient partly as an attempt to add sparkle and partly as a way to cheer myself up. Can't say it worked immediately, but I did feel better when I woke up this morning. Amen for new days and fresh starts!
You might notice that I skipped the coat of clear before applying Seche Vite? I do that because I feel like it helps Seche Vite work much better. Sadly, in addition to being a little grumpy last night, I was also tired, so I skipped the clear coat and I totally regret it. I'm no stranger to layering glitter, and there are just some odd little bumps of built-up polish on my nails that I don't normally have. O.o
So, yeah. Rainbow nails are sooo not for the win today! But fear not, I promise I'll be back tomorrow with a better mani to show you! Tomorrow's prompt is GRADIENT, and I've certainly gotten lots of practice with those lately!
