Layering: An OPI Color Paints Seriotype
I feel like I should be putting an 001 behind the title of this post, because there will probably be many, many more Seriotypes and other layerings featuring this collection! As soon as I read a press release for the OPI Color Paints, I knew I had to have it.

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats OPI Silver Canvas
OPI Chromatic Orange
OPI Indigo Motif
OPI Landscape Artist
OPI Magenta Muse
OPI Pen & Pink
OPI Primarily Yellow
OPI Purple Perspective
OPI Turquoise Aesthetic
2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite
I will admit, the idea of cracking these open and getting started last night was a little daunting... at first. Then, I figured I might as well just try a Seriotype that included every color. That way, I'd get a better feel for the polishes and how they apply, within the safe parameters of a Seriotype.
I started off with 2 coats of Silver Canvas, the base coat of the Color Paints Collection. It's a really pigmented silver metallic polish that was easily opaque in one coat. There were some visible streaks, so I tried painting a second to correct them. When that didn't completely work, I decided that I would sponge on a thin third coat, which made my base totally streak-free. I think you could paint the first coat and sponge the second and get full coverage. I'll be trying it that way next time.
Once my base coat was free of streaks and ready for Color Paints, I dove right in with Turquoise Aesthetic. I was really pleased to see that these polishes are quite pigmented. I'm not sure that they would work out for Jelly Glitter Sandwiches on their own, but I am thinking that you could use Color Paints for the base, and top off with the OPI Sheer Tints, Sally Hansen Triple Shine Palm Beach Jellies, or other more sheer jellies in your collection. The combinations are seriously endless!
After I painted on a swipe of Turquoise Aesthetic, I dabbed at it with saran wrap. I continued that way with all my nails, going through all the Color Paint polishes. I've gotta admit, I wasn't sure that these would layer so well after seeing how pigmented these jellies were. But somehow, they're really pigmented, yet sheer enough to allow for a whole lot of layering. After it was all said and done, I ended up with a very paint splattered look.
Then came the Clear Coat. It's an absolutely essential part of any Seriotype, because it smooths and melds together all that brushing and dabbing. There was definitely a little thinning out and bleeding with both coats of Clear, but like I said... it adds to the finished look of the mani! As I was painting a thick coat of Seche on top of each nail, I couldn't help but be reminded of how ink disperses in water. This mani captures the look of that, almost like it's sandwiched under a microscope slide. I really, really like it... and I can't wait to try it using different groupings of colors.
I honestly can't wait to play with these polishes again and see what else I can do with them. There were so many times when posting about jelly polishes, that I remember thinking a line of jellies in all the colors of the rainbow could be used for sooooo many kinds of nail art. I'm so glad that someone finally brought that idea to fruition! Now, I guess my only other request, would be that this line continue to be available for always, not just a Limited Edition. That just might be pushing it a little... but in the event that it's not... Please, and Thank You!
And in other news... I believe I mentioned adding a Seriotype prompt to Fishbowl Friday. I'm thinking I need to add a Color Paints prompt, too!
